How to Run a Manufacturing Work Order

Release, issue materials, record production output, and close a shop-floor job.

Step 1. Create a work order: select finished item, active BOM, quantity, dates, priority, and warehouses.
Step 2. Save as Draft — the system loads components from the BOM.
Step 3. Release the work order (validates BOM lines exist) before issuing materials.
Step 4. Start production (Released → In progress), issue materials from Manufacturing → Material Issues.
Step 5. Record production entry quantities (good, reject, rework, scrap), run QC if required, then Complete and Close.

Tips

Use On hold / Resume if production pauses — a reason is recorded.
Material returns post unused quantity back to stock from Manufacturing → Material Returns.
